I'm going down to Savannah on Saturday with a couple of friends, and since I'm so excited, all I've been doing is thinking about what to pack. Spring break seems like a little taste of summer in the middle of all the snow and cold, and in the summer my style takes a dramatic turn. I'm usually more into edgy, rock-inspired styles, but come summertime, I'm all about running around in laid back, hippie-inspired clothing. I was browsing the new spring arrivals at Urban Outfitters and there are so many pretty new dresses there by Lux that really fit my summer style, so I thought I'd share a few with you.

It might be because I'm going to meet my boyfriend's parents for the first time (I'm a little nervous), but I find myself just being drawn to flirty, feminine dresses and skirts. I've ordered the first dress, and I think I'll wear it on the plane because it just looks so comfortable. I really wanted the second dress, but unfortunately it's backordered, so I'll have to wait until it's actually summer for that one. I just noticed that the same model is wearing all of the clothes -- maybe I just like her! She's so cute.

SS08 Trend: bright primary accessories

I know the AW08 shows have already finished, but I can never jump that far ahead in seasons -- I'm still focused on spring and summer! One way to update your wardrobe without spending a ton of money is to focus on accessories, and one runway look that's easily achieved with high street merchandise is a bright pop of color in accessories. This is a perfect trend for me because I tend to wear a lot of black and white; now all I need are a few new belts and bags to help prepare me for spring!

Of course, there are lots of ways to achieve this look: handbags, jewelry, belts, shoes, and hats. These accessories are also available at every price range, from designer to mid-range to bargain. I personally like patent accessories, as I think the shine makes them stand out even more and allows you to play with textures.

Purchase: Leather Skirt

After seeing Agathe over at Style Bytes work a leather skirt in so many funky ways, I've been dying to try out the look for myself. I'd been keeping my eye open in thrift stores (I just don't have the money to purchase a leather skirt brand new), but I hadn't been able to find one I liked. I think the problem is that so many leather skirts I saw were mini-skirts, all of which looked either too trashy or punky for the look I was envisioning in my head.

That's why I was so excited when I found a beautiful high-waisted leather skirt on ebay yesterday. I've never won anything on ebay before, so I was excited to finally win an auction (okay, I admit, I was the only bid) with a bid of only $10! What a great deal! I hope it fits, as the size was listed as a M/L, but the mannequin looks so tiny, and from the pictures I could tell it wasn't pinned or anything. We shall see!

I first heard about this discount jewelry site when my roommate's friend asked her to help pick out a Valentine's Day gift for his girlfriend. She was shocked at some of the low prices that the jewelry was going for, and I decided to check it out myself. While there are certainly some pieces that are more expensive than others, there are beautiful rings for as little as $3-$4! They also auction necklaces, bracelets, watches, and sunglasses, all of which usually go for hundreds of dollars less than they are actually worth -- supposedly, anyways. It seems almost too good to be true.

The rings, in particular, were beautiful and going for very little money, and I couldn't help myself -- I tried bidding on a few. All of the above rings sold for $30 or less, and all are supposedly made out of sterling silver with real garnets, amethysts, and sapphires. I actually won the sapphire ring for $16. I'm a little nervous that I'm getting scammed, but it's still a cool ring and for $16, it seems worth the risk. You can purchase an appraisal report for $33 at the checkout, so maybe they are real deal. I'll just take it to a jeweler to get appraised when it arrives. Stay tuned for the results!

Today I took my inspiration from another pair of wacky sunglasses, a giant pair of '70s style shades:

I also added a bunch of pieces that I've never worn before; I bought the BCBG shirt on clearance and it's been hanging in my closet ever since. I like it, but I never could manage to put together a look I liked with it. That is, until I found this great blazer while thrifting, recently. I believe it's actually a men's suit jacket, judging by the way it buttons, but it fits perfectly -- it was a great find!

Today I decided I would try out a pair of sunglasses I picked up from The Garment District. I've been trying to keep from buying new things by making myself wear things I own but rarely/never have worn. I've also been trying to look a little bit nicer during the week by pairing casual outfits with killer heels. These shoes are definitely killer (literally, they're 5-inches!). I think that by posting my outfit everyday I'll be inspired to come up with something new and creative with my limited, dorm-sized wardrobe.
